POLICE PENSION OFFICE NEWS:
UMR REIMBURSEMENT CLAIMS THROUGH THE ONLINE PORTAL
With the revamp to the UMR online portal, it means members can now submit claims online once they’ve logged in. It is a wonderful tool, but it also means that claims are processed by non-trained individuals that typically do not handle/process claims for our SPPF members. As we’re still working on trying to tweak this so it routes to specific areas for claim handling, at the moment it is open to all processors that can process claims to ensure there is no delay in reimbursements requests received.
Reimbursement claims for our SPPF members are handled differently, and we have a way to essentially bypass the system requirements to pay. If at all possible if we could advocate to have members mail in or fax in claims, it will ensure it is routed to the correct team for processing.
We’ve had a number of changes with the portal, and it continues to be revamped and improved but we are not quite where we need to be with the managing of member submitted claims for specific groups that have very unique benefits – where notes just do not explain the correct processing for each claim situation.
OPTUM MEDICAL CLINICS AND PHYSICIANS
Many of you are receiving clinical letters from Optum regarding changes related to your medical providers. Please note that these letters and the information they contain are not related to our Optum RX Medicare EGWP plan. Optum RX and Optum Medical clinics are separate entities. Your medical benefits under your UMR Police Pension plan do not require you to see an Optum doctor or stay at a clinic that you are not satisfied with. You are free to see any doctor you prefer. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jan at the pension office.
