POLICE PENSION OFFICE NEWS:
- Happy New Year everyone, all of us in the pension office are wishing you a healthy and happy 2024!
- The 2023 Medicare Reimbursement forms were mailed on December 1, 2023. Please complete if you are eligible and email policepension@seattle.gov, fax 206-460-6900 or send in the US Mail to our office for reimbursement.
- Annual Reporting Forms will be mailed in April 2024.
- The first LEOSA date is set for February 20, 2024. We will announce the other dates in a future edition. LEOSA lines shoot at 1000 & 1400 hours at the SPD Range. Guns must be inspected prior to going on the course. Arrive at least 45 minutes early.

Pension Information
In cases of a members passing - the family, spouse/child/POA/Executor is to notify the Police Pension office as soon as practical. Any coordination of Chaplain/Bagpiper and Honor Guard services for LEOFF1 is coordinated through Lisa (206-256-5127) in the Pension Office.
Reminder, if you are getting married after retirement, you only have one year to add a spouse to DRS for pension benefit. Eligibility date is day 366 of your marriage up to the 2nd year of marriage. This is an "OPT IN" participation. You must opt in and have an actuarial reduction of your pension for your spouse to have a pension benefit should you pass.
Any change in your status, such as address or marital status needs to be reported to Lisa in the Pension Office as well as DRS.
For military funeral services - if you were honorably discharged or retired from the military, and you or your family will be wanting a flag presentation you must have a copy of your DD214.

We strongly encourage our members and spouses to prearrange your final arrangements that you desire. There is no LEOFF1 Benefit available for funeral/burial or final arrangement costs. Plan accordingly so your wishes are honored.
POA - Power of Attorney (Durable, Financial and/or Medical) please send Police Pension a copy of your POA. We must have one on file to speak with anyone else regarding any of your benefits, care, etc. Your Pension Office strongly encourages our members/spouses to have this document!
